It’s Thanksgiving and I know what you’re thinking. It’s that time of year when we get together with family and friends to share in all the things for which we’re grateful.

We look forward to the feast of turkey, yams, mashed potatoes and stuffing not to mention the gravy, green bean casserole and of course, the pumpkin pies.

We look forward to traveling or having guests in our own homes and all the fun, laughter and fellowship that just seems to be so needed this time of the year.

But you can’t have any of it.

Not this year.

Not ever again.

Thanksgiving With COVID Stuffing

Ahhh…Thanksgiving. That magical holiday where family and friends gather for the feast of thanks.

Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, gravy, that green bean casserole, dinner rolls and pumpkin pie.

Just the thought of it makes one’s mouth water, and belt loosen.

Every year, Thanksgiving is that one day we all look forward to with reckless abandon. Not just for the food, but for the time we get to spend with loved ones we so often don’t get to see but once or twice a year.

Hold on…in fact…hold everything.

More Anti-Gun Laws? To Combat TERRORISM???

By Craig Andresen – The National Patriot and Right Side Patriots

ft 1Illinois Democrat Rep. Jan Schakowsky was doing a radio interview a few days ago and she tried to make a case that was devoid of logic and any aspect of intelligence.

Before I continue, allow me to point out that Schakowsky is a congresswoman, from ILLINOIS and that IS important to this article.

Schakowsky’s inane point was this…because of the recent terrorist, the recent ISLAMIC terrorist attacks in Paris…we should adopt stricter GUN CONTROL laws in OUR country.

Here’s what she had to say on the matter…

“Obviously it is frightening for every western country, but I do want to remind you that before we killed a jihadist named Awlaki, he did a video that said to Americans, ‘Join the jihad and get guns,’ because it’s so easy in the United States of America to get a weapon. And that ought to be a chilling reminder because, aside from blowing themselves up, which is of course is not about small weapons. These people used the kinds of weapons that are still available in the United States of America. I think it ought cause us to have another consideration of sensible gun safety laws.”

You have got to be kidding me…

Weekend Edition: Twas the Night Before Obamacare

So…According to the Dictator…

“This holiday season, millions of Americans have a chance to get quality, affordable health insurance—many for the first time. If you have family members who are uninsured, you can play a big part in helping them find coverage that works for them. It might not always seem like it, but your family listens to you. So have the talk.”

Really?

Yes…Obama wanted you to talk to those gathered around your Thanksgiving table about…Obamacare.

He even suggested the things your holiday guests should bring to the feast.

No…Not cranberry sauce or that green bean casserole with the crunchy onion rings on top.

Here were his suggested side dishes for the main meal of Obamacare.

  1. Your Social Security Number
  2. Information about your employer and income— either a pay stub or a copy of your most recent W-2 tax form
  3. If you currently have health insurance, you’ll need your health insurance card or paperwork that includes a health policy number

Ummmmm…

Why not have your friends and family just bring a steaming HAGGIS???

But wait…There was more…

How Liberals Would LIKE to Revise Thanksgiving

We all know the basics of the story of the first Thanksgiving.

We know of the Pilgrims, their friendship with the Indians and how they came together at a feast to celebrate the first successful harvest.

But…

What if the story were written TODAY using LIBERAL mentality and a COMMON CORE approach to what liberals and socialists must surely see as THE most politically INCORRECT story of America’s history ever told?

Oh…How the story would change.

First of all…The Mayflower.

The ship that carried 102 Pilgrims to the new world would be HERALDED by the liberals for using WIND POWER and the Pilgrims CHAMPIONED for being GREENIES!!!

It’s not like they had a choice for had it been available in 1620…The Pilgrims would have CERTAINLY foregone the grueling 66 day journey for a 4 or 5 day cruise in a ship belching smoke and throwing the leftovers from each day’s all you can snarf buffet…overboard.

It’s Friday friends and Patriots and…

I Was GOBSMACKED!!!

It was back in 1998.

We were in Lincoln Nebraska and I was in radio doing 2 live shows a day.

Our morning show was a free-wheeling top 40 show and great fun to be a part of.

It was the day after Thanksgiving and, as always, we got the show off with a newscast, some music and settled in.

That’s when my on-air partner, Jerry Balletta asked the seemingly simple question.

He look at me and at Kala and Liz, our co-hosts and asked:

“How was everybody’s Thanksgiving?”

We never talked before the show and never discussed topics or ideas. We always wanted things to be fresh. Spontaneous. No rehearsals, nothing planned in advance.

So, it was a simple question. Almost rhetorical. “How was everybody’s Thanksgiving?”

A Patriot’s First Thanksgiving

As We prepare for Thanksgiving, the travel, family, friends and a feast, too many individual traditions are there to mention. Some may volunteer to serve those who through circumstances are homeless while others may take time to visit retirement communities.

Some will remember our troops in various ways and I hope we all take a moment to thank them for all they do to maintain our freedoms.

There will be laughter, prayers, football, food and stories told tomorrow.

Some will, no doubt, speak of the first Thanksgiving, the Pilgrims, the Indians, their hardships and how they came together.

I would, this year, like to take you back to a Thanksgiving long ago which most never think of on this holiday.

Before Thanksgiving WAS an official holiday it was still celebrated. Perhaps now as we celebrate it today but, indeed it did hold meaning.

The Thanksgiving of which I hope you will remember is that of 1776.

A newly declared independent nation was at war.

Thanksgiving was no longer thought of as a Puritan or holiday of religion although the thanking of God was a certain factor. In 1776, it was a holiday for Patriots.

Traveling to the home of relatives was generally not done unless of course, those relatives lived in your community. Distance was one thing and naturally, by carriage or horseback, such travel would have been quite time consuming.

Happy Thanksgiving

Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor; and Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me to “recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness:”

Now, therefore, I do recommend and assign Thursday, the 26th day of November next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation; for the signal and manifold mercies and the favorable interpositions of His providence in the course and conclusion of the late war; for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed; for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enable to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national one now lately instituted for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and, in general, for all the great and various favors which He has been pleased to confer upon us.

And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions; to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually; to render our National Government a blessing to all the people by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed; to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations (especially such as have shown kindness to us), and to bless them with good governments, peace, and concord; to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us; and, generally to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as He alone knows to be best.

Given under my hand, at the city of New York,

the 3d day of October, A.D. 1789

This was the first, the very first Thanksgiving proclamation of Thanksgiving issued by a United States President and the words are unlike any one might expect to hear from an elected official today.
