Skin color is arguably the most identifiable thing about a person, and at the same time, arguably the most unimportant aspect of any given person.

Gender says a lot too when it comes to describing someone, and perhaps more information can be discerned along gender lines, but it is skin color, a physical trait and nothing more that always seems to be at the forefront of a description.

It’s like describing a car, or a house…a red car, or the white house in the middle of the block.  Aside from the most basic identifier, nothing of importance is attached to skin color. The car could be a sports model, or a sedan just as the house could be a Tudor or a ranch. The person could be tall, short, skinny, heavy or any number of other things including highly successful, or barely scraping by.
