Weekend Edition: Israel’s Defensible Position

As rockets fly, launched from Gaza into Israel, at Tel Aviv, at Jerusalem and elsewhere, the near future seems clear and I will Stand With Israel.

Israel will soon be at full on war with Hamas.

I don’t quite know where to start.

Perhaps with Egypt.

Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood president is condemning Israel for their offensive.

Offensive?

Yes, for that is exactly how those bent on the destruction of Israel view Israel defending itself. An offensive.

Rockets, hundreds and hundreds of them, launched by Hama from Gaza and raining death and destruction from the shy in Israel has drawn the response OF Israel and for putting up a defense, for firing into Gaza as a response, Islamists deem Israel as being on the offensive.

It’s Absurd Squared.

Israel has every right to defend itself and its people against such deadly aggression and frankly, their ability to contain themselves to the extent they have is astounding to me.

Israel is also being condemned by the corrupt United Nations. This, naturally, comes as no surprise.

Also joining the anti-Israel chorus, and disgustingly so, are Obama’s voters. This too should come as no surprise as Obama’s foreign policy, as we have outlined on countless occasions, is designed to embolden our enemies and the enemies of our allies. Namely, Israel.

Yesterday, Kim Kardashian tweeted support FOR Israel and immediately, her throngs of liberal/socialist tweeps descended upon her like a pack of wolves. They wished HER dead. Wished the destruction of Israel and leveled at her, vile names and comments.

Within 5 minutes, the woman famous for being famous removed her tweet, having no intestinal fortitude for standing with Israel.

Such is the life of the rich and vapid.

Obama’s Contempt for Israel Continues

It’s hard to believe that Obama’s support among Jewish voters is not eroding. Of course, the Jewish vote going traditionally to the left has always been something of a point of confusion.

This past weekend, Mitt Romney once again visited Israel and any comparison to Obama’s visit there nearly exactly 4 years ago as a candidate can be quickly dispelled.

In July of 2008, candidate Obama stopped in Israel but the visit was far, far different than Romney’s.

In 2008, Obama told the Israelis that, “I’m here on this trip to reaffirm the special relationship between Israel and the United States and my abiding commitment to Israel’s security and my hope that I can serve as an effective partner, whether as a U.S. senator or as president.”

Obama, at the time, also stated, “A nuclear Iran would pose a grave threat and the world must prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.”

And, of the Palestinian issue, Obama said, “Israelis desire a secure peace in which both they and the Palestinians can fulfil their legitimate aspirations: a strong secure state of Israel living alongside a viable and peaceful Palestinian state. We must support Palestinian leaders who share this vision.”

So…Over his time in office, how has Obama done regarding these promises?

U.S. Slaps Israel in the Face!!!

In a strange turn of events, though not an unexpected turn, the U.S. has cut 60 million dollars worth of funding to the U.N. – but this situation is far from over and  the ramifications are very interesting.

Today, the U.N. Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization voted 107-14 with 52 abstentions thus admitting the Palestinians as full U.N. Members.

According to our State Department spokeswoman, Victoria Nuland, “Palestinian membership as a state in UNESCO triggers longstanding legislative restrictions which will compel the United States to refrain from making contributions to UNESCO.”

Actually, Palestinian Membership granted by ANY U.N. committee or group would trigger such a move and I’ll get back to that.

Of the UNESCO budget, we, the United States is responsible for about $80 million per year or roughly 22% of that total budget and in November, we were scheduled to make a $60 million payment…That is now NOT going to happen…

Or WILL it?

Israel’s PM is the World’s Statesman

At last, a voice of sanity has echoed through the chamber of the United Nation’s General Assembly. Following the addresses of Abbas and a ranting Ahmeninejad and a couple of days after a lack luster address from Obama, the voice of reason took the podium.

Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, spoke just minutes ago to the assembled nations. The Prime Minister spoke to those who stand with Israel, to those who stand against Israel – and to those whose stance, because of their personal and party ideology, cannot be counted upon to defend the principles nor the people of our most important friend.

Beware of Presidents Wearing False Yarmulkes

This week, with a major U.N. assembly taking place, there seems to be a great deal of behind the scenes scrambling to prevent Palestinian statehood. Scrambling is the key word. Why exactly are we scrambling? Should we not have taken the steps we now scramble to take months ago?

The scrambling is to form a multi-nation block of statehood for Palestine so that the U.S. does not stand alone in the U.N. Security Council in opposition to Palestinian statehood.

This should have been a done deal a long, long time ago but that isn’t the case. It seems that Obama promised Palestinian Authority leader Abbas that Palestine would indeed gain recognition and statehood upon which now, Obama seems to have reversed course.
