Liberals never learn, and we shouldn’t expect them to start now.
Just like the fake “RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA” propaganda, just like the “HUNTER’S LAPTOP IS A FAKE” propaganda and all the other propaganda like “THE RUSSIAN DOSSIER IS REAL” and the “TRUMP’S A NAZI” propaganda had no basis in reality, the latest manufactured attempt to “GET TRUMP” isn’t flying.
Just over a week ago, the royal family of Qatar offered up a spanking new, shiny 747-8i. to President Trump to be used as our nation’s brand spanking new, shiny Air Force One. Almost immediately, liberals pitched a hissy-fit claiming that the plane was being “GIFTED TO TRUMP.”
Ummm…no.
Last week, on one of my posts, some FB liberal by the name of Tony Lawrence commented, “Waiting on ANY of you to speak on Trump being gifted a plane.” So, I answered him. “If President Trump was being gifted a plane, I would indeed speak on it. Just 5 seconds of homework, of which you are unwilling, or incapable of doing, would lead you to the truth that the plane in question would be given to the Department of Defense for use as AF One.”
Well, apparently, the facts got in the way of Tony’s propaganda because he commented back, “Since when does the US need a plane from anybody? However here is a direct quote from Trump. President Donald Trump insists he’s getting a “free, very expensive airplane”. Do you see what HE SAID? Do 10 seconds of homework next time.” Now before I respond to the first part of Tony’s propaganda from that comment, allow me to say I responded to the rest of it by commenting, ”Question from ABC reporter today: “Respectfully sir, as a businessman, some people may look at this and say, ‘Have you ever been given a gift worth millions of dollars and then not received any – “
“President Trump’s response to that reporter today: “It’s not a gift to me,” Trump said. “It’s a gift to the Department of Defense, and you should know better, because you’ve been embarrassed enough, and so has your network. Your network is a disaster. ABC is a disaster.” Tony, do 1 second of homework next time.”
Okay, so as to the first part of Tony’s propaganda contained in his second comment, “Since when does the US need a plane from anybody?” Well…Tony, and the rest of you propaganda-spewing liberals, we need a new Air Force One since Boeing seems to be stuck in quicksand regarding their commitment to have already produced not one, but two such aircraft.
Here’s the deal – Back in 2018, President Trump commissioned two new 747-8i. aircraft, designated as VC-25B aircraft from Boeing to be built out for use as Air Force One. Boeing was paid $3.9 billion and was under contract to have both planes delivered by 2024. It’s now 2025, and neither plane has been finished, but it gets worse. Now, Boeing is saying they’ll deliver the new Air Force One presidential aircraft in 2027, three years behind schedule. That’s bad, but it does get even worse. In recent testimony in front of the House Armed Services Committee, Darlene Costello, the air force’s acting acquisition chief said Boeing’s proposed 2027 delivery date would ultimately depend on whether the White House and the air force were willing to compromise on certain design and capability requirements.
Excuse me? COMPROMISE on design and CAPABILITY requirements? Boeing wants to COMPROMISE on the CAPABILITY requirements of the plane to transports the President of the United States? The word, “REQUIREMENTS” means that the aircraft MUST have certain capabilities that are designed as state of the art ways to provide for the safe transport of the most powerful leader on Earth.
One simply does not “COMPROMISE” on such REQUIREMENTS.
That said, here’s what else did Darlene Costello had to say…“We are looking at the requirements that are being potentially traded off to get to that date. I would not necessarily guarantee that date, but they are proposing to bring it into ‘27. If we can come to an agreement on the requirement changes that get us to that point, that may be possible.”
Well, isn’t that delightful. The planes (plural) that were commissioned and paid for in 2018 were to have been delivered, ready for wheels up in 2024, may or may NOT be available by 2027 depending on COMPROMISING on their capabilities.
THAT, dear liberal propagandists and propaganda spewing parrots like Tony Lawrence, is why we need a plane.
You see, the Air Force One fleet we have now is, in fact, 40 years old. For liberals incapable to doing their own homework, that means they were ordered in 1985.
Do you have any idea what else came out in 1985? Well, let’s see…Nintendo Entertainment Systems. Those were all the rage. Microsoft Windows 1.0 came out in 1985. Nobody had ever seen anything like it before. Amazing. Oh, here’s an oldie but a goodie – Fax Machines first hit the market in 1985. The very first ever .com was registered in 1985, and there was a brand new, state of the art way to listen to music…the Sony Discman, which seemed incapable of playing a CD without skipping.
Back in 1985, Pac-Man was THE most popular video game in the world. Back in 1985, ‘Back to the Future’ was opening in movie theaters. And Back in 1985, Michael Jordan was in his rookie NBA season.
That’s right liberals, we haven’t had a new Air Force One ordered since the release of the greatest cell phone of all time – the Motorola Dynatac 8000x. That damned phone was bullet-proof, analog and capable of spending 3 days and nights on top of the radio station Jeep covered in ice and snow…and it still worked.
Okay, all of that said, there are rules regarding such a thing as this. The Emoluments Clause (Article I, Section 9, Clause 8 of the U.S. Constitution) prevents federal officials from accepting gifts, titles, or other benefits from foreign governments without the consent of Congress. That means that congress would have to approve of the $400 million dollar “gift,” but there is something of a work-around. According to AG Pam Bondi, the President could accept the donated plane on behalf of the U.S. government, in this case, the Department of Defense of which the President is the Commander in Chief, use it for the remainder of his term, and at that point, the plane would be retired to the President’s Presidential Library, never to be flown again.
The idea there being, by then, Boeing should have the 2024 promised Air Force One planes sitting on the tarmac at Andrews.
For the record Tony Lawrence and the rest of you liberal lunes, The Emoluments Clause exits to guard against a President of the United States being bought-off by foreign governments. Also for the record, Trump can’t be bought…he’s not Joe Biden.
Now, I’m sure that such a plane coming from Qatar would not be the stripped down version, I’m just as sure it would require certain upgrades from a defense and/or technical standpoint to make it suitable as the most import and transport on Earth, but I’m sure such upgrades could be made by the military under the Department of Defense quicker than the now possible delivery date from Boeing
And yes, I am aware that Qatar is on our list of “trust but verify” allies. They tend to play both ends of the field in many respects, and they are not exactly one of the most human rights friendly little nations on the planet, but even given the dubious nature of “trusting” Qatar, such as it is, there is something else to consider.
Gifting is a significant part of Qatari culture and is seen as a gesture of hospitality and friendship, Refusing a gift from Qatar, especially one as grand as a $400 million dollar 747-8i stand-in for Air Force One, could well be considered rude, and could well damage the relationship between out two countries. There are reasons NOT to cause such damage. Like it or not, Qatar is as close to neutral as it gets in the current Middle East region, as they have a certain aspect of leverage with regimes like Iran, and with outfits like Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis. Qatar also has a degree of trust with Israel, not that Israel fully trusts them, at least at this point, but still, as a possible mediator in stabilizing the region, you really don’t want to piss off Qatar.
However, there is one significant thing that most are missing in this whole thing…the plane in question is NOT…I repeat NOT a “gift” from Qatar. What it is, in fact, is a plane…a 747…once used by the Qatari Royal Family that was obtained by a Florida-based defense contractor. President Trump has been in talks for the plane to be formally transferred to the ownership of the United States then be retrofitted by the DOD, a process that will take at most a year. The 747 we’re talking about has been in the hands of a U.S. Defense Contractor for some time, and the title would be transferred from Qatar to the Contractor who would then transfer it to the U.S..
THAT is the plane from Qatar we’re talking about here, and THAT is the plane that will be used as Air Force One until Boeing gets done with whatever it is they’ve been doing that has delayed the two planes that were promised in 2024.
Meanwhile, Qatar has ordered 200 747’s from Boeing a part of their new investments in the United States.
I hope they’re not in a big hurry to get them.
Here’s the bottom line. It’s 2025. We live in a time where, in certain parts of the country, you can use your smart phone to order a driverless Uber by send your GPS coordinates and the address you want as your destination and pay for it using an app. We live in a time where we can send a bullet the size of a dishwasher traveling at 4.1 miles per second to hit a tiny moon orbiting an asteroid 6.8 million miles away. There is absolutely no reason it should take nine plus years to build out two 747’s to be used as Air Force One.
Besides, should any President of the United States be flying aboard a plane ordered two years before Reagan said, “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!” Should any U.S. President be flying aboard a plane ordered four years before that wall was torn down? Should any U.S. President be flying aboard a plane ordered six years before the fall of the Soviet Union.
I mean seriously…should any current President of the United States be flying aboard a plane where George W. Bush still has the high score on the Pac Man game in the Senior Staff Meeting Room?
I think not.
