Liberal Hatred vs Historical Fact

Last week, on our nation’s Independence Day, congresswoman Cori Bush, a liberal Marxist from Missouri tweeted, “When they say that the 4th of July is about American freedom, remember this: the freedom they’re referring to is for White people. This land is stolen land and Black people still aren’t free.”

Backing that harpie up was Shahid Buttar, a congressional candidate and liberal Marxist from San Francisco who is running for Pelosi’s seat under the liberal bumper sticker slogan “Resistance for Real” who sent this response to Cori Bush, “Speak it, @CoriBush! It’s almost as if our entire country has been brainwashed to ignore our history—and how its worst elements continue today—despite our self-congratulatory rhetoric.”

Not to be left of the leftist mix…

On July 4th, we celebrate our nation’s birth and this year, 2020, it will be the 244th time we have done so but that date, while by no means suspect, should be seen in context. One of our founders thought the celebration would occur on a different date and he, in no uncertain terms, put it in writing using the social media of the day.

The date was July 1st, 1776 when John Adams, a prolific letter writer and a visionary founder of our nation penned a letter to his wife Abigail Adams, in which he made what at the time was a series of bold predictions.

“The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more.”

Adams missed the mark by 2 days, believing that the day the document was presented to the Continental Congress, not the day it would be adopted, would be the celebratory day, but this excerpt from a simple letter offers much more, I believe, than a 48 hour premature pronouncement of celebration.

That letter, I submit, is a look behind the scenes and provides a fresh look at how one of our founders perceived the moment.

I’ll return to this letter after a look at the historical context which encouraged Adams to put his pen to parchment.

You Can’t Legislate Away Morons

stap 1It was the 4th of July and after drinking,, 22 year old Devon Staples of Calais Maine thought it would be…funny…if he placed a fireworks “mortar” tube on top of his head…dropped a round into it and lit the fuse.

According to his older brother, Cody, who said that friends apparently tried to dissuade him…“Devon was not the kind of person who would do something stupid. He was the kind of person who would pretend to do something stupid to make people laugh.”

It was the last thing Devon Staples ever did.

When the round ignited…it killed him instantly. Again, according to Cody Staples, who was just a few feet away…“There was no rushing him to the hospital. There was no Devon left when I got there.”

We are not talking about some kid here. This was not some adolescent playing with fireworks sans adult supervision. This was a full grown idiot who should have known better but let’s get back to his brother, Cody, for a moment.

Cody Staples, 25 years old, is on record describing the event this way…

The Formal Indictment of Barack Hussein Obama

As Conservatives and Tea Party faithful, we are constantly preaching adherence to that great document, beginning with the words, We the People…

Our Constitution is that document meant to limit the scope of government and to protect We the People FROM government.

We cite the Constitution, we hold it up as THE law of the land and we strongly disagree with those, whether within our own party of the opposition who seek to circumvent or ignore it.

Our Founders and Framers were far-sighted enough to know that such a document was necessary and arguably, for the exact reason with which we now face…A president who sees himself more as a King or a Dictator, a congress complacent to maintain status quo and the abuses of power against the people that go with those things.

But…

Today is the 4th of July.

Our Independence Day.

In past years, I have provided historical perspectives and behind the scenes essays regarding our starting point as a nation.

Well and fine however, this year, on Independence Day, we need something stronger. Something more pointed and something that rises to a call to action.

Today, we need…We REQUIRE…

Muskets Would Have Never Been Issued

Yesterday, the town of Depoe Bay, Oregon, cancelled their annual Independence Day fireworks celebration. This had been a well attended tradition since 1993.

By well attended, I don’t just mean that people turned out to watch the display but, they made a day of it and it had become a great boost to the local economy. Shop owners and restaurants, lodging establishments and gas stations had come to rely on the annual celebration.

Now, it’s gone and for what?

The birds.

That right, because of a bunch of Brandt’s Cormorants that apparently nest a mile from the bay where the fireworks USED to be shot off.

It seems there’s a bunch of bird brains who are scared that the Cormorants are scared of the fireworks and, well, they just can’t have THAT now, can they?

Sorry but, I’m not buying it.

It makes one wonder though, doesn’t it? Where we would be today had liberal/socialist, tree hugging namby pambies been ruling the roost 236 years ago?

Let’s take today’s liberal mentality and head back to the birth of this nation, shall we?
