Second Amendment Rights

The last couple days there’s been a story on the news about an ‘intruder’ who broke into someone’s house to steal things, and then called 911 on himself. He was afraid the home owner might shoot him. I can only imagine the Liberal outrage if the home owner had shot the intruder – even though it would have been perfectly legal. The arguments would run something like this: Breaking and entering isn’t a capital crime, and neither is burglary.

And that is true. But when someone breaks into your house in the middle of the night you don’t know if they are a thief, a kidnapper, or a mass murderer. And if an unknown intruder is sneaking towards your baby’s nursery, or the room where your children are sleeping? What parent wouldn’t do anything necessary to protect their child(ren)? The Law understands this, and makes self defense legal.

Why I Support Jon Huntsman Jr.

Why I support Jon Huntsman Jr.

Huntsman is a moderate, which may lead some to call him a Republican in Name Only (RINO), but I think it would be much more accurate to call him a realist. By making compromises on the some issues, he gains goodwill (or debts, to look at it another way) that can be used to get votes he needs on other, more important, issues. Or accepting a compromise can keep things from going too far. For example, compromising domestic partnerships, to keep the issue from getting to actual same sex marriages. This is something he did while Governor of Utah.
