Obamacare…SCOTUS Decision WILL Affect the Election

Being a political commentator entails many things. It means being up to speed on the widest variety of issues. It means putting yourself out there as a target. It means having passion and the courage of your convictions.

It means offering your opinions and analysis to the choir and the angry mob.

Sometimes, it means putting something out there that won’t make you popular with the choir. This may well be one of those times but, if you read through the entire piece, you’ll see where I’m coming from.

Obamacare is currently being heard as a case before the  Supreme Court . As of this writing, 1 day down, 2 to go. What conservatives want the most could well be the worst thing for this nation.

Let me put that another way.

What LIBERALS want the most, could be the BEST thing for this nation.

Oh boy…is it getting hot in here or is it just me?

Yes, I am a card carrying conservative. A Reagan shining-city-on-a-hill guy. I bleed Red, White and Blue. I loathe the liberal/socialist mindset and ideology.

What the liberals want the most, a Supreme Court triumph, holding Obamacare to be constitutional, could well be…Oh man…Could well be the best thing for this nation.

To understand this seemingly absurd statement, you will HAVE to stay with me and I promise, I’ll make it worth your while.

To “get it” you first have to examine what happens if Obamacare is found UN-constitutional.

Should that be the case, the individual mandate would be rendered null and void. Sans the mandate, Obamacare would lack both teeth and funding. Without teeth or funding, the rest of Obamacare would whither on the vine.

Should Obamacare be found UN-constitutional, Obama’s only legislative triumph would be rendered out the door…Gone…relegated to the trash heap of political agenda.

If Obamacare IS found UN-constitutional, the Constitution, at least in part, is saved, government overreach is at least, in part, averted and we get government, at least in part, out of our pockets.

So…What’s the downside? How, in my daftness, could I see this as a bad thing?

Hmmm…Well, to answer THAT question, we have to look at what happens if Obamacare is found…CONSTITUTIONAL.

If Obamacare IS found…CONSTITUTIONAL…Obama wins. His hallmark legislation is legal and there will be no end to the gloating.

If Obamacare is found…CONSTITUTIONAL…another part of the Constitution falls.

Should Obamacare be found…CONSTITUTIONAL…government will be able to mandate anything they desire.

IF Obamacare IS found…CONSTITUTIONAL…Government gets deeper and deeper into our pockets AND our lives.

And I’m saying THIS might be the BEST thing for this nation???

Do what I do each and every day. Step back. Further back. A little more. Look at the picture…The big picture…Step back until you can see the WHOLE picture.

Okay? Ready? Here we go.

Answer this question honestly.

What is more important? Defeating Obamacare in the Supreme Court or…Defeating Obama in November?

Both? How did I know you were going to say both? Fair enough. Now…Take “BOTH” out of the possible answers and take another swing at the question above.

Suddenly, it’s a much tougher question now, isn’t it?

Whoever LOSES in this Supreme Court showdown is going to be GALVANIZED come November. GALVANIZED.

If conservatives LOSE in the Supreme Court on Obamacare…conservatives will be GALVANIZED in November. Such galvanization would all but ensure a Republican president will be elected in November. It would also almost ensure that conservatives would not only keep the House but retake the Senate.

IF conservatives take the House…the Senate…AND the White House in November…it would be a 100% guarantee that Obamacare would be repealed within HOURS of the swearing in ceremonies next January.

If Obamacare IS found…CONSTITUTIONAL…conservatives will be running to the polls like turpentined cats with their HAIR ON FIRE in November.

On the other hand…

Should Obamacare be found UN-constitutional…LIBERALS will galvanize. If you are thinking this is going to be THE most contentious, dirty, no-holds-barred election in history…You haven’t even scratched the surface should liberals lose the Obamacare case in the Supreme Court.

Getting the picture?

Now then, allow ME to answer the question. Which would I rather have? A defeat of Obamacare in the Supreme Court or a defeat of Obama in November?

Both.

Yes…BOTH and that is the exact point of this article.

This is a warning. This is NOT a drill. We, as conservatives must have BOTH a defeat of Obamacare at the Supreme Court AND a defeat of Obama in November.

Defeating Obamacare in the Supreme Court would strike a blow FOR the Constitution and in FAVOR of less government intrusion into the lives of Americans. It would bolster the views of the framers and strengthen the ideal of limited government.

Defeating Obama in November would strike a crushing blow against the liberal socialist ideology but it can’t be limited to just THAT.

We, as conservatives, MUST hold the House AND take the Senate as well. We MUST.

Defeating Obamacare in the Supreme Court means the defeat of the individual mandate which, in effect, leaves Obamacare on life support but not dead. To kill it we must REPEAL the rest of it and THAT can only be accomplished by an election SWEEP.

IF we, as conservatives WIN at the Supreme Court, we must NOT let down our guard, must NOT let up on our pressure against the liberal/socialist candidates and MUST campaign, register and vote with the same sense of fervor we would employ if we LOSE at the Supreme Court.

What we, as conservatives, did in the 2010 midterm elections, we MUST do again in November of 2012. Anyone with a wood shop will tell you that 3 coats of shellack are much better than 1.

We cannot sit on the sidelines if we win in the Supreme Court because our individual GOP candidate of choice didn’t get the nomination. We MUST not, for even a second, if we find victory in the Supreme Court against Obamacare, allow ourselves to believe it’s all downhill from there.

I believe our duty to defeat Obama in November would be easier by means of instinct should Obamacare win the day at the Supreme Court; but conservatives today, like those who founded this great nation, must NOT take the path of least resistance. We must be ready and willing to FIGHT for our nation’s future.

Now do you see it?

The BIG picture.

The WHOLE picture.

Now…Do you see it???

  1. I see where you’re going with this, and I’m with–up to the edge. I’m not going to jump over the edge and say the SCOTUS should find this law Constitutional. If it does, no matter what the election result, we as a nation are DONE. If ObamaCare is found Constitutional and ‘changes the relationship between the Federal Government and the Individual in a **FUNDAMENTAL** way, precedence is established. Even if Rs take a clean sweep in November, and handily smite the Obamanation that is Obamacare, when the Ds inevitably snake their way back into power, they will have this case to point to and rebuild an even uglier beast than Obamacare, because the precedence is there. The stakes are high on all sides. We MUST get this one right or else lose the American Experiment forever.
We MUST get the election right, or else turn an uphill battle into Valley Forge. It’ll suck, the odds will be against us, and we’ll probably suffer a lot, but with Divine Providence, it is not un-winnable.
If the SCOTUS finds this law acceptable within the framework of our Constitution, though, the Revolution is over, and we will have lost our lives, liberties and any chance at pursuing anything more than fleeting happiness. Tyranny will have won.

  2. Shirly, you are a fool or a shrill for the democrats. The “housing bubble” goes all the way back to the government forcing banks to loan money to people who were not qualified–supposedly backed up by Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac–two out of control agencies that trickered the housing melt down. I am no particular fan of Bush and agree that raising the debt ceiling was wrong, but Obama has run us into more debt in three years than all the past presidents in our entire history. He can hardly blame that on Bush. And you aren’t losing ANY of your “women’s” rights. If you choose to kill your babies, you will still be able to do so–but just don’t expect other people, i.e tax payers and other insured people to pay higher premiums so you can have free abortions. I took birth control pills myself once I had given birth to 4 children and was told that to have another one could be a threat to my own health. The pills were cheap, but insurance did not pay for them. I paid for them myself, but there was no restriction on getting them. Having someone else pay for abortion and pills is NOT a right, it is an imposition on those who don’t want the same thing for themselves. You can exercise all of the personal decisions you want, but just take responsibility and pay for them yoursef. Putting the burden on someone else is not RIGHT to you. But, I suspect I waste my breath.

  3. Well, I’m not at all certain that an unconstitutional ruling would lead to a November win for Obama. In any case, there is something that can be done to privent that win, and Arizona is leading the way. A GA citizen tried going to court to prevent Obama from being on the ballot, but the judge ruled in favor of Obama. Arizona has the better idea–and it is non-partisan and would help every party and every legitimate candidate. They are trying to get a bill passed that would require every citizen for public office to submit verifiable documentation of their identity. No matter the party–if you want to run, just submit an original BC, selective service, etc. No cobbled up photoshop document or forged ss card would pass muster with the secretary of the state–or at least it shouldn’t. If every state passed such a law, Obama could not run without proving that he is a US citizen–which he never has. That’s right–he has never proven that he is a CITIZEN, never mind natural born, which he isn’t according to a 127 year old supreme court ruling that has never been overturned.

  4. How sad!…1995-2000 republicans controlled both houses…Dec 1999 Clinton and republicans “repealed the “1933 glass/steagall act that created the 2007 Housing bubble…2001-2006 republicans CONTROLLED all 3 branches of government and did NOTHING to stop the 2007 crises…..Raised debt ceiling 7 times in 8yrs (2 in 08)
to cover all their republicans bills….2005 out of control spending…
created 10 million jobs in 8yrs with the help of 2 tax cuts and increased gov. to do it….lost over 1/2 of the jobs by 2008….Solundra Solar was Bush’s baby from 2005-2008…why didn’t republicans vent it? 2 failed wars. Iraq was a LIE!….Gas was 4.12 in 08…..2008 Bailed out the Banks at $700 Billion Stimulus….
left the American people at the brink of failure in jobs, economy and did nothing about their “2007 Sub Prime mortgage crises that the Republicans set in motion……yes, I remember well the 8yrs of republican rule….and remember 2001-2006…6yrs the held the controll of all 3 branches……HELL NO I DON’T WANT TO REPEAT AND OF IT AND I DO NOT WANT TO LOSE ANY OF OUR WOMEN’S RIGHTS…AND THE U.S. SUPREME COURT IS RIGGED WITH 5 CONSERVATIVE JUSTICES AND ALITO HATES THIS PRESIDENT….
SO WILL THEIR BE ANY RULE OF LAW IN THEIR DECISION ON OBAMA CARE………….HELL NO ……

  5. I have been wondering about why the Supremes would take this up before the election, given their proclivity to not take this White House on. So how about this, how about the entire thing is a SHOW to do exactly what you have said above. What if they already know how they will rule, and that the Conservatives on the court will strike this down. And of course they know how they will spin that to victory come November.

Add to that the race bating that is happening as we speak in the Martin?Zimmerman case from Florida, and how this will galvanize the black community around the President just before the election, the coming Occupy issues that WILL rear their heads again this summer, and I believe your assessment that we MUST stand strong together and defeat this ideology this election. Like you said, we simply must.

The stakes have never been higher.

  6. I like the one two three punch but the only canidate to carry that those ideas to the next fight would be Ron Paul.

  7. You are not seeing all the possibilities! We must start Impeachment proceedings NOW against Obama for his ineligibility and for his unconstitutional acts and bills. Then we must imprison him and all his supporters and communist cohorts, including those in Congress, the Senate, the judicial system, and the media. We must hold their feet to the fire NOW!!. Elena Kagan must be FORCED to recuse herself from hearing and voting on this Supreme Court Bill according to the LAW. Why isn’t anyone thinking about the fact that Obama is ILLEGALLY sitting on the Throne?? If anyone here know the process of starting Impeachment, please tell us here. I know Recalls must be started by a Constitutent in the House or Senate and not by the People. Is the Supreme Court the mover & shaker?

    • Edie,

If you read previous articles I have directly called for Obama’s impeachment, removal…resignation et al. THIS article deals with the issue of Obamacare.

  8. i’m feeling the same as many of those who posted above… in a perfect world, that would happen (we’d win in november)… but, voter fraud is going to be rampant (w/ $oro$’s funded software company; SEIU maintaining voter machines; ACORN, new black panther party intimidation; felons voting; dead people voting; cartoon characters voting; dishonest, bought & paid for sectys of state; u name it)… even if the liberals unite in november & go to the polls, there are more of us conservatives… i think a declaration that obamacare is unconstitutional would galvanize the conservatives as well; and we’ll all realize we can’t sit home in november…

and mcromney IS a big problem… he’s proud of his romneycare; and if he wins the GOP nomination, he’s gonna shake his etch a sketch and go back to being the non-conservative, northeastern RINO that he is… and we all lose.

  9. Stepping back beside you, and looking at the whole picture. At a time like this with the GOP, Conservatives and Tea Party seeming to be three different parties it seems to me that a win for Obama in the Supreme court would hopefully be the uniting factor that we really need to put on three coats of ‘shellack’ in November. Obamacare and many other of the socialistic, Marxist, anti-constitutional “doctrines” imposed by this administration would go down the river before their effective dates in 2013.
We (Republicans, Conservatives and Tea Partiers) HAVE TO UNITE!!
    SL

  10. Yes, I see it – I just don’t agree with you. You are assuming that there will be a free and fair election – I don’t believe there will be one. I don’t think the liberals will allow that to happen because they know a free and fair election pushes them back into the powerless place they have fought so hard to escape. I think the election is going to be either rigged, or not allowed to happen at all – think riots and Marshall Law. The pattern has been set with OCW and they are just waiting for the right time to create a situation where it looks like Obama has rightfully needed to declare Marshall Law to keep us “safe”. This is just to important for them to allow failure and I am just waiting for the next shoe to drop.

    • Sandra…I assume nothing but the lowest of actions with this administration.

  11. I have to disagree with part of this. If the Republicans gain control of the White House and the new President is Mitt Romney, Obamacare will not be addressed at all. Romney believes in the individual mandate. His Romneycare was the model on which Obamacare was created. What’s the chances he would undue the stepchild that came from his own creation?

  12. Excellent article. Sure gave me something to think about. BUT…… Yes there’s a but… I am holding out for a ONE -TWO – THREE punch……and Obama/Liberals YOU ARE OUT!

One = Obama Care mandate ruled Unconstitutional.
Two = Obama is sent on a long vacation in November.
Three = True Conservatives take the Senate and keep the House.

BUT….yes another but… If we only get 2 out of 3 than 2 & 3 are my pick.

  13. This article of yours is too clever by half. If ObamaCare gets defeated, people will understand that he championed an unconstitutional act. And Americans who are out of work and having to refill their vehicles with $4.50 a gallon gas (or higher) will not forget either their gas bill or their employment status. The defeat of Obmacare would not be a “reset” button for Obama, making every out of work person forget the last four years.
