Quid v Status…the Battle of the Quos

Obviously, liberals desperately want President Trump to be guilty of quid pro quo. They know he’s not, but that doesn’t alter their desperation driven desire for it. To that effect, liberals have been shifting the semantics of it from quid pro quo, to extortion, to bribery, and even though they have found him guilty of it, they haven’t been able to produce any evidence of it.

For the sake of clarity, allow me to provide to you the definition of quid pro quo: a favor or advantage granted or expected in return for something.

Whether or not quid pro quo is either a high crime or misdemeanor is open to conjecture. Our Founders and Framers never defined what they meant by the term, nor did they provide examples of what would qualify in such respect.

In fact, the process of impeachment, as set forth in the Constitution, was never intended to be a legal matter. Instead, it was always meant to be a political process which is why our Founders and Framers made it difficult to accomplish.

Let me explain…

Impeachment requires a simple majority in the House to vote in favor of it, but it requires 2/3 of the Senate to vote for it to obtain a conviction, and only upon conviction can a President be removed from office. There is no mention of Constitutional due process, no definition of what is, or is not considered to be a high crime or misdemeanor, and the process resides in the halls of congress rather than in a courtroom.

Okay, so let’s get back to the definition of quid pro quo, the basis regardless of what the liberals are calling it today, for their desperate desire to remove President Trump from office. That definition, again, is: a favor or advantage granted or expected in return for something.

Now allow me to provide another definition…this time for the word, “leverage.”

Leverage is defined as: use (something) to maximum advantage.

Can you see the difference? Frankly, I can’t. A favor or advantage granted or expected in return for something, vs use (something) to maximum advantage. In either case, one employs one thing in order to gain another thing. Other than semantics, both are nearly identical…one person’s quid pro quo is another person’s leverage.

Given that, allow me now to introduce a variant of leverage into this conversation, that being, “political leverage.” I believe this gets directly to the heart of the impeachment matter, as this is exactly what liberals are accusing President Trump of as a high crime or misdemeanor. Liberals insist that President Trump employed quid pro quo…leverage…political leverage when he asked a favor of Ukraine’s President Zelinsky even though no quid pro quo, or leverage, or political leverage was ever mention in the phone call that led to the sham of a circus we’re watching unfold today.

I submit that there is not a single member of congress, from either side of the aisle, who has not employed political leverage, leverage, or quid pro quo on a daily basis. Here’s what I mean. Let’s say congressperson “A” or Senator “A” has a bill that they really want passed. They identify other members of congress who may not, for whatever reason, be predisposed to vote their way on said bill, so…lawmaker “A” then goes to those whose votes are needed and says, “I have this bill, and I need your vote. If you vote my way on this, I’ll vote for the bill you’re trying to get passed.”

Lawmaker “A” has something he or she wants, and promises lawmakers “B,” “C,” and “D” something of value to them in exchange for a vote.

That’s political leverage. That’s leverage. That’s quid pro quo. Now if that were actually a high crime or misdemeanor, there wouldn’t be a single member of congress left to roam the halls, not that we would be worse off for their absence.

From a standpoint of diplomacy, political leverage is as old as politics, and it has been a part of every single diplomatic deal ever made in this country. Every day, our diplomats want something from some other country, and every day, those other countries want something from us. Striking a deal, is the diplomatic name of the game, and again, let me put this in direct context of this sham of an impeachment circus.

Last week, we heard an impeachment “witness” talking about what was necessary, from the viewpoint of the Department of Defense, for Ukraine to secure monetary assistance from the United States. There was a set of conditions that had to be met by Ukraine in order to secure our assistance, and according to the “witness,” and the congressional questioner, those conditions had been met, and our monetary assistance should then have been rendered,

How is that any different than what the liberals are accusing President Trump of? Simply, it’s not. More clearly, we had something Ukraine wanted, money, and we required them to meet a certain set of pre-conditions before we would release the money to them. Again, that is political leverage…leverage…quid pro quo.

You do what we want, and we’ll give you what you want. Okay? Okay…done deal…moving on.

In case you’re not aware, or have forgotten in the fog of this impeachment nonsense, our country is engaged in something of a trade war with China. We want them to quit manipulating their currency, and to engage in trade on a level playing field. China doesn’t want to do that, because, through a series of bad trade deals…China has all the leverage, and they rather like being in that position. President Trump hates those deals, and since China won’t voluntarily even the playing field, President Trump has levied huge tariffs against China. China doesn’t like that, not one little bit…so…where does that leave things?

We want an even playing field and we’ve told them…play nice and we’ll remove the tariffs. Something of value for us in exchange for something of value to China.

Political leverage, leverage…quid pro quo, and there’s nothing whatsoever wrong with it.

Every President, from George Washington to Donald Trump…every diplomat from Ben Franklin to Gordon Sondland has used political leverage, leverage…quid pro quo to get things done. President Trump didn’t invent the tactic, he’s just using the time-honored tactic.

Did President Trump use such leverage for his own personal gain? According to liberals, like Adam Schiff and Nancy Pelosi, yes, but did he really? No. According to liberals, President Trump had absolutely no reason, other than his own personal political gain with regard to the 2020 election to want Ukraine to look into Burisma, and Joe and Hunter Biden’s involvement in it…but clearly, that’s a bald-faced lie.

On November 14th, the CEO of Burisma in Ukraine was indicted for corruption, and Hunter Biden’s name appears in that indictment as having reaped better than $16 million dollars due to his connection to Burisma. Joe Biden is on video bragging about using quid pro quo to force Ukraine to end an investigation into Burisma back when Joe was the Vice President. In return for ending that investigation, and firing the prosecutor, Biden would release a billion of dollars of our people’s money to Ukraine…and he gave them 6 hours to fire the guy.

Regardless of what liberals, and their mainstream media want you to believe, Burisma was corrupt, the former regime in Ukraine was corrupt, and Hunter Biden was right in the middle of it all…and it’s more than fair to say that if the Vice President’s son was being protected by the Vice President in the midst of such corruption, the Vice President wasn’t clean, and the effects of that corruption had a negative effect on our best national interests, and quite possibly our national security.

By the way, in case you didn’t know, because neither the mainstream media nor the liberals for whom they work will tell you, Burisma is under indictment for money laundering, and embezzling state funds. Ukraine was then, and is today, not a wealthy country…and what Joe Biden used as leverage to get the prosecutor fired was $1 billion U.S. taxpayer dollars…our people’s money that was to go to the government of Ukraine…in other words…future state money…and according to the recent indictment, Hunter Biden somehow managed, despite having absolutely no experience or knowledge regarding energy companies, to be on the receiving end of better than $16 million dollars. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see the connection. Burisma was extorting money from the government of Ukraine,  laundering it, and the then sitting Vice President’s son, Hunter Biden, was able to pocket north of $16 million dollars of it.

Between 1999 and 2014, Ukraine, a poor country was the largest foreign contributor to the Clinton Foundation…at $10 million dollars…like I said, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist.

Is it any wonder that liberals, during these absurd impeachment hearings, are telling their mainstream media partners to tell the American public that trying to connect Joe and Hunter Biden to Ukrainian corruption is a wild conspiracy theory? Because the truth of it, and following the money via an investigation may well show that some of that money ended up in the hands of either the DNC, Hillary Clinton or both leading into the 2016 election.

This isn’t about quid pro quo…this is about status quo. It’s the battle of the quo’s.

For better than a month, we have seen a parade of diplomats, behind closed doors, or in public hearings, whining and complaining about President Trump’s foreign policy vision…and not one could testify outside of their perceptions, their feelings, 2nd hand, or third hand hear say regarding any “demand” for quid pro quo…and not one…NOT ONE could point to ANYTHING done illegally by President Trump.

A parade of diplomats…diplomats who should have been using political leverage, leverage or quid pro quo to advance the best interests of the United States day in, and day out. Let me explain what the true job of a diplomat really is. Diplomats, our diplomats should know that everything in their job is fluid, that everything is subject to change, and that they should be doing everything they can, on that fluid chess board, to leverage the best results for the best interests of the United States.

To be clear, some of our diplomats do that, and they do it well…but not those in that parade of liberal hacks we saw entering closed door hearings, or public hearings…and there’s a reason for that.

Those weren’t quid pro quo diplomats. Those were status quo bureaucrats.

Those were a bunch of stuffed shirts who have a very over-inflated opinion of themselves, so much so that they believe THEY control our foreign policy, and that their job isn’t to leverage the best results for our best interests…they believe they are wherever they are to simply maintain the status quo. And what exactly is that status quo? Simply to give other people’s money to foreign countries…to give OUR people’s money to foreign countries…and how dare any President of these United States question that status quo.

How DARE President Trump question quid pro Joe Biden and his involvement in what is now an indicted foreign operation. How DARE President Trump want old corruption in Ukraine looked into REGARDLESS of how high up the American ladder it may have gone. HOW DARE President Trump want the NEW leader of Ukraine actually BE a reformer, a corruption fighter, and the real McCoy before any more of OUR PEOPLE’S money takes the status quo flow to Ukraine.

How dare President Trump question the status quo, and insert himelf into the diplomatic process after those status quo bureaucrats spent decades telling the leaders of foreign countries that THEY are in charge of this country’s foreign policy, that THEY make the decisions, and that THEY, and THEY alone are the ONLY source, and THE final word where our nation’s flow of foreign aid is concerned.

HOW DARE President Trump be a better steward of OUR PEOPLE’S money than are the liberals who control the House today, and thus hold the nation’s purse strings.

HOW DARE HE?

President Trump dares, because he’s the President, it’s what he was elected to do, and because…

He’s America first…the battle of the quo’s be damned.
