McConnell’s Sellout

“Squabbling and sanctimony may be tolerated in other venues and perhaps on the campaign trail, but they hmitch 1ave no place among colleagues in the United States Senate. The Senate floor has even become a place where senators have singled out colleagues by name to attack them in personal terms, to impugn their character, in blatant disregard for Senate rules.”

Those were the words of Senator Orin Hatch, spoken on the floor of the Senate last Sunday in response to Senator Ted Cruz’s truth to power speech last week regarding Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

In that speech, Cruz pointedly made the case that McConnell had lied to each and every member of the Republican Senate when he looked them in the eye and made the promise that there would be no further votes regarding the reviving of the federal Export-Import Bank.

In the words of Senator Cruz…

“Today is a sad day for this institution. What we just witnessed this morning is profoundly disappointing.” mitch 2

“The majority leader was visibly angry with me that I would ask him such a question. The majority looked at me and said ‘there is no deal, there is no deal, there is no deal.'”

“Well, we now know that when the majority leader looks us in the eyes and makes an explicit commitment that he is willing to say things that he knows are false.

“That has consequences for how this body operates. If you or I cannot trust what the majority leader tells us, that will have consequences on other legislation, as well as on how this institution operates.”

“What we saw today was an absolute demonstration that not only what he told every Republican senator, but what he told the press over and over again was a simple lie. The majority and minority leader, arm-in-arm again, should not team up against the American taxpayers.”

Cruz went on to state that McConnell was running the Senate in the same manner as did “the Senator from Nevada,” of course referring to Harry Reid.

Ted Cruz was 100% correct in his assessment but that did not stop other senior establishment Republican Senators from going after Cruz.

mitch 3According to RINO John McCain…“I think it was outside the realm of Senate behavior. I would never contemplate going to the floor of the Senate and impugning the integrity of another senator. Just not something we do here. I really think it was a very wrong thing to do.”

From John Cornyn, yet another RINO…“If, in fact, the Majority Leader had somehow misrepresented to 54 senators what the facts were with the ex-im bank, I suspect that you would find out their voices joining that of the junior senator but I hear no one else making such a similar accusation.”

Perhaps but…while no other Republican Senators have made the same truth to power comments in the wake of Ted Cruz’s comments of last Friday…it should also be pointed out that the opposite is also true and Cruz himself rose to the floor on Sunday, after having been accused of a lack of civility, to make that point as well stating…“Speaking the truth about actions is entirely consistent with civility.”

“My saying so may be uncomfortable but it is a simple fact, entirely consistent with mitch 4decorum, and no member of this body has disputed that promise was made and that promise was broken.”

So…what exactly is the Export, Import Bank anyway?

It is a little known bank that supposedly assists foreign customers in the purchase of American goods but what it really amounts to is little more than a corporate welfare program financed on the backs of the American taxpayers which is why Cruz and others are so opposed to it and want it ended altogether…an outcome they had in hand when it was allowed to expire for the first time in some 81 years at the end of June due to the lack of any action to extend it.

That came to a different conclusion with the deal McConnell struck with liberals to include the reviving of the Ex-Im bank via an amendment to be attached to a highway bill last Sunday…and that highway bill will be voted on before the end of July.

Extending a welfare program is completely consistent with the liberal agenda and that is exactly what McConnell has struck a deal to do but it is not his only liberal move in the past five days either.

mitch 5Also, during the rare Sunday Senate session, with more and more video evidence regarding Planned Parenthood’s selling of baby parts from abortions, Mitch McConnell blocked a vote aimed at defunding the organization…again consistent with the liberal agenda.

By doing so, McConnell literally thumbed his nose at every pro-life member of the Senate and at their constituents as well.

There is nothing whatsoever, other than abortions, that Planned Parenthood does that can’t be done at community clinics and yet, American taxpayer dollars flow like water to that entity and now, we learn they are also in the business of selling body parts on the side. Why on earth should the American taxpayers be funding that? In fact, there is absolutely no reason at all but, even with the evidence piling up, McConnell blocked the vote to take the taxpayers out of the equation.

If that’s not enough…McConnell was Obama point man on the Trans Pacific Partnership trade bill thus allowing Obama the fast track to making that deal and it was McConnell who expedited it past Senate hurdles without ever reading the bill he was promoting…yet another move toward the liberal agenda.mitch 6

So…was Ted Cruz right to pointedly criticize McConnell on the floor of the Senate last Friday?

Yes.

Was Cruz right to call McConnell a liar?

Yes.

Is McConnell too cozy with the liberal agenda?

Yes again.

Here is the final part of the Cruz criticism of McConnell that bears note…“We keep winning elections, and we keep getting leaders who don’t do anything they promise.” Cruz was of course referring to key midterm elections…the shellacking in 2010 when Republicans took the House and Shellacking II in 2014 where Republicans took the Senate away from Harry Reid though at this point, it is more than difficult to tell the difference.

Was Cruz right in that assessment as well?

Unequivocally, yes as Boehner, in the House and McConnell in the Senate, have become mitch 7shills for the Obama regime and liberal agenda items in general.

This is exactly why Senate and House votes are more important in 2016 than ever before…as if we elect strong Conservatives to up for election seats, we have a much better chance and a faster track to reversing the damage that has been done over the past six plus years and the key to making that fast track a reality can be found in replacing the Speaker of the House and the Majority Leader in the Senate with Conservatives who, like Ted Cruz, are not adverse to calling out the liars who oppose the will of the people.

Senator Ted Cruz is a hero for calling you a liar and kudos to him for doing so… yet there are those RINOS who got their feathers ruffled because he didn’t stand on decorum and call you a liar in private! Bawahahahaha Isn’t that rich you’re all corrupt and you are upset because the one Senator tells the truth as he sees it! Bawahahaha Well you are a despicable deceitful RINO LIAR!

How could you in good conscience continue to add bills that are not good for this country to other bills that you are tacking on and slipping them by thinking that no one will notice? My God the sleazy corruption coming out of your cesspool we call congress stinks so bad we can smell it in Texas! What would happen if you all actually did what you were elected to do??

You are a scary, creepy and corrupt RINO who needs to step down and let someone younger who actually loves this country in there!! Someone with TEA PARTY values run this country who can turn our country around like it used to be when I was a child and learned that the USA was the greatest country on this planet… now no one respects or fears us anymore! Y’all just let barry soetoro continue to do as he pleases and you help and enable him every chance you get!! You’re disgusting and reprehensible for not voting and standing up for Republican values!!

  2. That’s because Mitch McConnell knows Obama isn’t going to be leaving the White House and McConnell want to continue in some kind of senior roll so he’s becoming buddy buddy with Obama! So are the rest of the so called republican senetors that are allowing obamas decisions go through even though they talk about preventing Obama from going against the constitution as McConnell and others have done infront of the press but look all of obamas decisions despite law breaking are going through because of the money the house is allowing him to take! We only have a handful of republicans in the house because the others have just crossed the line and are now on the left and did so to remain in authority when Obama declares martial law! Remember when he joke around about it that was a test to see how people would take the choice! He said it was against the constitution well how many times has he gone against the constitution already and if he declares martial law he wouldn’t be breaking laws or going against it because it is in the constitution! So he has 2 options! I’m thinking martial law though because that will make him a dictator if he ran for a 3rd term he’d still be under a 3 party govt!
