Eric Holder Will Man Up Today…No, Not Really

This morning, Eric Holder will sit down with senators in a hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee, regarding Fast and Furious. No doubt this will be a much more friendly conversation than next month’s hearing in the House. I’m not saying serious questions won’t be asked today, but I suspect that liberals posing questions will throw soft pitches.

We already have some indication of Holder’s stance going into this hearing as his prepared opening remarks are available.

“The mistakes of ‘Operation Fast and Furious,’ serious though they were, should not deter or distract us from our critical mission to disrupt the dangerous flow of firearms along our Southwest border.”

Is he serious?

A critical mission to…DISRUPT…the flow of firearms along our Southwest border? Holder, the ATF and this administration was caught ADDING to the flow of firearms along our Southwest border! They sold weapons to Mexican drug cartels for crying out loud.

Holder will tell the Committee, via those prepared remarks, that the ATF “suffers from a lack of effective enforcement tools and a critical first step should be for congressional leaders to work with us to provide ATF with the resources and statutory tools it needs to be effective.”

Effective in what Mr. Holder? More effective is allowing guns to walk across the border Mr. Holder? More effective in not getting caught doing it, Mr. Holder?

It seems to me that one very effective way to prevent more than 2,000 firearms from being trafficked over the border would be to remove you from office.

Again, regarding Fast and Furious, Holder will tell the Senate Judiciary Committee, “Unfortunately, we will feel its effects for years to come as guns that were lost during this operation continue to show up at crimes scenes both here and in Mexico. It must never happen again.”

Unfortunately, Mr. Holder, those guns have now been linked to more than 200 murders between the U.S. and Mexico. Unfortunately, Mr. Holder, you are correct that those guns WILL continue to show up…FOR YEARS TO COME…because YOU didn’t just LOSE them…you made it possible for them to BE lost when you SOLD them to the Mexican drug cartels.

“It must never happen again?” Really? “IT MUST NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN?”

Mr. Holder, in case it has never occurred to you…

IT SHOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED TO BEGIN WITH!

“Like each of you, I want to know why and how firearms that should have been under surveillance could wind up in the hands of Mexican drug cartels. But beyond identifying where errors occurred and ensuring that they never occur again, we must be careful not to lose sight of the critical problem that this flawed investigation has highlighted: we are losing the battle to stop the flow of illegal guns to Mexico.”

Oh for the love of GOD, Mr. Holder…REALLY? YOU don’t know how this happened? When you were IN Mexico in 2009, YOU talked about this operation. YOU received at least 5 official memos regarding this operation. YOU were personally handed information and asked about this operation by a U.S. Senator. YOUR people sold these guns TO the cartels. YOUR people built “tracking” devices out of parts they bought at RADIO SHACK. Multiple agencies, YOUR DOJ, the ATF, ICE, and the STATE DEPARTMENT were all in on it and YOU, Mr. Holder, want to know how this happened?

Whoa…HOLD THE PHONE HERE…

Mr. Holder…in YOUR mind…it is this INVESTIGATION which is flawed? In YOUR mind, a FLAWED INVESTIGATION HAS HIGHLIGHTED THE FACT THAT WE ARE LOSING THE BATTLE TO STOP THE FLOW OF ILLEGAL GUNS TO MEXICO???

Mr. Holder, allow me to be the first to welcome you to REALITY…

THIS INVESTIGATION IS…RESPONSIBLE…FOR HIGHLIGHTING THE…FACT…THAT WE ARE, IN PART, LOSING THIS BATTLE…

BECAUSE OF YOU AND BECAUSE OF THIS ADMINISTRATION!!!

Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee will rake Holder over the coals, democrats will try to soften the blows – but, considering these prepared opening remarks which Eric Holder will deliver starting at 8 a.m. EST this morning, one thing is quite clear…

Holder is either too ignorant to be our Attorney General or he’s lying his ass off.

35 members of Congress have called for his resignation so far and I suspect, after today’s appearance and before Holder’s December 8th appearance before the House Committee, many more will join those ranks.

Holder today will attempt to blame Congress for not spending enough money to make this disaster of an operation viable and will try to claim he had no idea what was happening, how those guns got into the hands of the cartels or when he actually became aware of the operation itself.

And, apparently, according to his prepared remarks, Holder will try to blame a losing battle for which he is in part responsible, on the investigation of his own failures.

We would like to thank the soon to be FORMER Attorney General for his appearance today.

  1. I hope someone calls the field agents in who wanted to stop it but were told not to by their superiors.
