Tripoli Now in the Hands of Rebels…What Happens Next?

Libyan rebels have moved into the capitol, Tripoli, they have been bombing with NATO assistance Qaddafi’s compound, government officials are calling for a cease fire and many of the Libyan strongman’s forces have been captured or killed. Qaddafi’s hours in power ARE numbered but what then?

Reports, it should come as no surprise, are muddled depending on whose side is issuing the reports.

Rebels claim to have killed or captured nearly 100 government forces in the last several days but the government says it’s not true. The government says NATO bombs have gone astray hitting farms, school buildings and home while NATO and the rebels claim they are pounding Qaddafi’s compound and government buildings.

One thing not in dispute is the fact that Qaddafi’s top aides are continuing to defect. The latest to run for the hills was the Libyan Oil Minister – who, with a convoy of Land Rovers, made a beeline for Tunisia on Friday night.

At first, that convoy was suspected to contain Qaddafi himself; but those reports, like so many others, proved false.

Qadaffi’s 2 key sons have either fled or have been arrested.

That leads to one very important question: Where IS Qaddafi?

Algeria, for now, it seems  but will they allow him to stay or will the Mad Man of  Libya now become the Running Man?

It seems Qaddafi isn’t much welcome anywhere. Tunisia has said they don’t want him. In fact, while Qaddafi has for years fostered relationships with many African nations, chances are, he is no longer welcome enough in any of them to seek or be granted asylum in any of them.

Hugo Chavez has been friends with Qaddafi – but that “friends” term should include quotation marks. While asylum for an ousted Libyan dictator would be a way for Chavez to poke the U.S. with a sharp stick, it’s doubtful that an ego maniac like the Venezuelan dictator would find room for another dictator.

Qaddafi has been at odds with the Arab states for years.  And while some have come to visit, by and large, they have not taken Qaddafi seriously and most would not care for sort of focus the ousted leader would bring to their tent.

Algeria? It’s a temporary stay at best.

Qaddafi, early in the uprising, vowed to fight to the death – and while it was beginning to look as though he might just get his wish, Qadaffi hasn’t the fortitude to stay. Rebels are of no mind to back off now since they have the backing of NATO and a country to wrest away from the grip of a mad man.

Who ARE these rebels anyway – and who, other than NATO, has been helping them? These ARE important questions. and, in fact, questions to which few – if any answers – have been provided.

In the early days of the uprising, civil war, overthrow attempt, or whatever it is, the Obama administration seriously considered arming the rebels. That trial balloon floated quietly away once it was reported that some loose rebel groups actually contained elements of the very forces we were fighting against in other theaters.

Muslim Brotherhood? Without doubt the Brotherhood is involved. Al Qaeda? Qaddafi said they are Al Qaeda on drugs but can we believe anything Qaddafi says? Probably not.  Taliban? Who knows? Clearly somebody has been funding the rebels and supplying them – but who?

Many of the rebels are young men, college students trying to make a point, a few Jihadists certainly … pretty much anybody with a grudge and or a chip on their shoulder. Since it all started last February and really caught steam in April, the rebel civil war has seemed, at best, disjointed, even after Obama ceded our military’s “kinetic action” to NATO.

By most accounts, it’s been a stalemate until just days ago.

Now, with Tripoli under fire, more and more of Qaddafi’s ministers fleeing the country and a renewed exuberance from the rebels, it appears that Qaddafi may be finished soon, one way or the other.

When that happens, if it happens, who takes control of Libya?

Are rebel leaders in a position to actually lead a country? It seems unlikely.

Will there be elections to establish new leadership in Libya? Probably but such elections and formation of a new government can’t happen in a vacuum.

Is there a plan at all?

One needs to look no further than to the fall of Mubarak in Egypt to discover the plan. Remember when Obama said the Muslim Brotherhood should have a place at the table in the formation of a new Egypt? Well, clearly, the Muslim Brotherhood HAS a place at that table and it can be said that the Brotherhood now OWNS the table.

Nature abhors a vacuum and the Muslim Brotherhood, a thinly cloaked arm of radical Islam, is always standing closely by to fill any void which presents itself.

Do not be surprised to find a new Libya being constructed by the Muslim Brotherhood in the months to come.

With the rebels advancing on Tripoli and Qaddafi’s days in power not apparently numbered, the Obama administration has shifted their focus to Syria. Obama trotted out Hillary Clinton, our Secretary of State, to give the word officially, that Assad must step aside in Syria using much the same sort of language as Obama himself used in stating that Mubarak needed to go from Egypt and Qaddafi from Libya.

There are no coincidences here.

Mubarak is gone and the Muslim Brotherhood now has him on trial in Egypt. Qaddafi is on his way out in Libya and the Muslim Brotherhood is in the wings. Assad in Syria? He’s next – and guess who is most likely lurking?

Syria is no friend of ours – nor is Syria any friend of Israel. Syria is most closely aligned with Iran; and while some see the fall of Syria as a blow to Iran in their actions and rhetoric against Israel, expect Iran to make a play for some sort of “place at the table” in forming a new government within Syria side by side with the Muslim Brotherhood.

Clearly these tyrants needed to go. They have each, oppressed and brutalized their respective people for decades. Their people are of the mind that any government is better that what they’ve been subjected to. A vacuum appears and the Muslim Brotherhood stands ready to fill that vacuum.

Replacing tyrants with an organization of tyrants.

That’s the plan.

The Obama administration seems to be prodding this plan from one nation in that region to the next. The “let other nations fare for themselves” isolationist crowd is little more than a willing accomplice in this disaster in the making.

This is what happens when the U.S. cedes its world stage authority to groups like the U.N. and NATO. We get a new world order which lines up against the better interests of our country, our national interests and certainly, our allies.

Consider what happens, as nation after nation in that region, the Middle East and North Africa, become controlled by the Muslim Brotherhood. Where does that leave our most important ally and the only true democracy in the region, Israel?

Obama has clearly turned HIS back on Israel.

Ron Paul, running for the GOP nomination clearly has little if any use for Israel.

What OF Israel?

The week-long shelling, rocket attacks and battles propagated by the Palestinian militia against Israel seem for the moment to be finished with the announcement Sunday afternoon of a cease fire agreement.

Coincidence? No.

We all know the Palestinian rebels are backed in their actions by Hamas. There are clear ties between Hamas and…the Muslim Brotherhood.

With Qaddafi about to fall, Libya will soon become a vacuum and the Brotherhood can, and will, move in. With Assad and Syria next on the list … well … why should the Palestinian authority continue to peck away in tiny bits and pieces at Israel when a stronger and more prominent Muslim Brotherhood is on the horizon?

The more nations under the control of the Brotherhood, the more resources they will also control and the more influence they can wield.

The Brotherhood already has Hamas and the Palestinian Authority, they have Egypt, They are about to get Libya and Syria is on deck. Obama said Mubarak must go. Obama said Qadaffi must go. Obama now says Assad must go. Obama said the Muslim Brotherhood must have a seat to the table in Egypt. Obama has stood for an independent Palestinian state. Obama has said Israel must return, as a starting point, to pre 1967 borders. Obama said nothing when a people’s uprising started and quickly fell in Iran. Why not? Could it be because Iran is already in the hands of radical Islam?

What of other allies in the region? Jordan? Kuwait? Saudi Arabia? Yes, Saudi Arabia is a shaky ally and not a bastion of western socialization or human rights but we do have very important bases there which we can ill afford to do without…unless we have no intention of protecting our own interests of those of our allies.

It should also not go without notice that the Muslim Brotherhood has dozens of groups entrenched within the United States. Should they be viewed as a clear and present threat? Many on the left say certainly not and are quick to point out those on that those on the right who feel otherwise are crackpots and paranoid extremists.

Are they correct in this assessment? Frankly…No. These Brotherhood groups could be considered benign were it not for the fact that their affiliates in the most volatile part of the world are indeed expanding their holdings and their influence and they have a friend in the oval office, who seems to be a willing accomplice every step of the way.

For those who believe that a New World Order is all about economics, think again. Yes, economics is a major part of it but it’s not all there is to it and for those who look at our upcoming election in 2012 as all about the economy, again, think again.

Yes, our economy is on the edge but so are the economies of many nations. Greece, Spain, France, England, Portugal and on and on. Not one of those nations is now in any sort of economic condition to assist or participate in any sort of defense of our or their allies.

If Israel, Jordan, Kuwait or Saudi Arabia come under attack or are invaded, the whole of Europe will be at risk.

New World Order indeed.

While so many in our country scratch their heads over Obama’s seeming inability to put forth an economic plan, why are they not seeing his plan for the most volatile part of the world being carried out, step by step, successfully?

Why indeed?

When Qaddafi falls, be sure that Obama will crow about the success of his policy and he will take credit for forcing out an evil dictator who was killing his own people. Never mind that it was the French who actually led the way but, who should take the most pride in that kinetic action and to whom will he actually be speaking … Us or the Muslim Brotherhood?

Fundamental transformation anyone??
