History and Her Lessons

There is a common saying, much used and abused, yet ignored withal and by all, that saying is ” History repeats itself ” – and it is mostly used when something happens that someone has memory of.

For example, a family that I have knowledge of had three daughters and one son. The eldest daughter was always well turned out, polite and attractive, she was well educated by the standards of the day, she was courting ( we called it “walking out”) a young man who was considering enlisting in the Military. He joined the Royal Navy.

They ” walked out” for two years, and eventually they decided they would get engaged properly. They had the usual celebrations, and all appeared to be going well; until one day, I was waiting to be served in the local drug store when I overheard a conversation (couldn’t really not overhear). What I heard surprised me – it appeared that the girl had got herself pregnant by her feller when he was last on leave, and when she had told him, he had dropped the bombshell of ending the relationship … and the word’s I heard at the end of the conversation were these:

Well, it’s history repeating itself all over again.

That happened to her mother as well. Her bloke was on leave from the front. She got pregnant, and he dropped her like a hot coal!

When I got back home, I asked the one person who knew local history and the families around best, my Grandmother, and she enlightened me as to the whole sorry story. Her father had thrown her out and refused to have anything to do with her as was usually the case back in then, and it was at this time that my Grandmother explained the phrase ” History repeats itself.”

This now brings me to the point of my article. IF each of you were to look back through history, you would find many instances where history had repeated itself, and no more so than in the Old Testament. Each time the Hebrews turned away from God, they had rough times, bad times, their prestige and their strength became as nothing when they turned their backs to God.

There are many countries today that are doing the exact same thing: Turning away from God.

Atheism and such are prevalent – and Christianity is being pushed away. Christians are made to feel ashamed – so much so, that they are going underground. Churches are emptying and many new fellowships are being founded in people’s homes; meeting in small groups was safer than a mass meeting back in the early days of the Church when persecution was rife.

NOW, once again, the Church is being persecuted (history repeating itself). The reason for this is obvious: God has been taken out of daily life, no prayers in schools, no open air revivals. The State has turned against God – and in so doing, has brought persecution.

Check back through history and see the consequences of the lack of historical knowledge. England fought in Afghanistan way back and we didn’t win then because we were not fighting a standing army as such; we were fighting a militia that was highly mobile and brutal in every sense. Now we are back in Afghanistan, and we are still fighting a highly mobile militia force that has UNLIMITED resources, and this is because  OUR governments are the suppliers of the finance that helps keep them supplied with arms and explosives, etc.

Foreign aid is a form of appeasement – and appeasement NEVER works.

Chamberlain is a case in point. He gave way to Hitler to maintain peace in our time. The problem with appeasement is that the more you give, the more they want. Appeasement in this case led to WWII. The appeasement of today is going to lead to bloodshed on the streets of cities in England and America.

Giving way to bullies only makes them stronger, ourselves weaker – and the weaker we are, the more fearful we become. The enemy we face today will, in the end, be our executioner tomorrow.

People in the West have become politically apathetic, with the idea in mind that all politicians are the same, all as bad as each other, all there for what they can get out of it before the next election takes place.

I was once told many years ago that for someone to be a good politician, one had to have a good memory and the ability to lie convincingly about the broken promises that bothered the electorate.

Which now brings me to Obama and the promises that he made to the people of America: The HOPE and CHANGE that never happened for the better – but for the worse. The money wasted on fruitless programs like Obamacare. The multi-trillion dollar debts incurred by an administration that is without leadership and without a goal other than to dismantle the Constitution of America’s Founding Fathers.

Compare this with what happened in Germany when the National Socialists came to power. Within months, their Constitution had been suspended and tyranny was installed in its place. Civil government as such ended, and Gestapo and the Abwehr along with the Wehrmacht became effectively the government of the day.

What I see here is history repeating itself – but with a definite twist; and the twist is this: America has some 36 training centers for Islamic Radicals, and should Obama decide at any time that Martial Law is required, it will be these to whom he will turn – just as Hitler turned to the SA (Sturm Abteilung or Storm Troopers).

American’s MUST STAND firm against tyranny. Make your friends see that history is the greatest of TEACHERS. When things go wrong, look to history and learn ….

GOD BLESS AMERICA! GOD BLESS HER PATRIOTS! RAISE OLE GLORY HIGH AND WATCH HER DANCE IN THE BREEZE THAT IS FREEDOM!!!
