Who’s to Blame?

By Jennifer Stephens on April 11, 2011

So, the Media and Liberals want to blame the GOP, and especially the Tea Party, for this budget mess/pending Government Shutdown. Let’s look at that…

This budget was due September 30, 2010 – more than 6 months ago. Back in August and September of 2010 (when the budget should have been passed) the Democrats had the Majority in both the House and Senate. With those Majorities, they could have passed a budget they liked. They didn’t. They knew that the GOP/Tea Party would win the House in the mid-terms. (They didn’t want to admit it publicly, but they knew it.) They knew that could lead to this stalemate on the budget, and that they would them be able to blame the GOP, and even more so the Tea Party they hate so much, for the stalemate. Some would say the Dumbocrats aren’t smart enough to plan that far ahead. Yes, they are sneaky and clever enough to do just that; and I believe they did.

Also, Bad Ole Barry is now playing moderator/peace maker for the budget. When one is passed, you can bet he’ll take credit and say it was his peace making that did it. Barry, you’re (as usual), a bit late. If you were going to play peace maker you should have done it months ago. You should have made Congress pass a budget back in August or September when there would have been no need for a peace maker. But now you can use it as a campaign issue.

Also important to note is that Congress gets paid during a Government Shutdown. Other Federal workers, including our military, don’t. Not surprising, since they’re the ones who wrote that law.

Here’s my recommendation: If no budget is passed by September 30th, Congress doesn’t get paid as of October 1st. And all those ‘breaks’ they are so fond of – Cancelled. No Thanksgiving Break. No Christmas Break. No ANY break until the budget is passed. I think that would ensure we have a budget by Thanksgiving, if not September 30th…

To recap: The budget should have been passed by a Democrat controlled Congress in August/September of 201. It wasn’t. They are now using their own action (or more accurately, lack of action) to blame the GOP/Tea Party for a mess they could have easily avoided. So, really, who’s to blame? Not the GOP/Tea Party.
